We are accepting applications for The Tribal Member Rental Assistance program, which supports low-income Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas members living externally of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas Reservation boundaries. Assistance is provided via a rental stipend, intended to assist with housing costs. Assistance can be provided at a rate of 150/month; maximum six months. Program stipends awarded are mailed directly to your landlord.

We have several openings for the Kickapoo Tribal member college rental assistance program, which will assist you for six months, up to $200.00 per month. Checks are mailed directly to your landlord. You can re-apply and receive an additional six months  for a total of twelve months of assistance with the college assistance.

The Kickapoo Housing Authority (KHA) will rehabilitate 17 elder units and the elder community facility on the Kickapoo Reservation in Horton, KS. The homes and community facility require significant updates — as they have not had extensive rehab or cosmetic updates since being built in 1980.

The elder community facility’s needs have also significantly increased due to more elder services being housed in the building.

The development will include many highly energy efficient building materials and systems which leads to long term savings for both the tenants and the KHA.

All income restricted, non-manager units are set-aside for persons who are age 55 or older, and/or to a person with disabilities. It is anticipated that the current tenants will satisfy the income targeting specifications and no tenants will be displaced.
